BIO

ARTISTS BIO

I was born in the west suburbs of Chicago, IL, in a town called Villa Park. My mother was a teacher & waitress, while my father worked in chrome plating. My childhood was filled with fun and imagination. I would spend my days drawing, thinking, dreaming, and knowing there was so much more to this world than what i've seen. I was always interested in seeing and experiencing new things. I was a quiet kid around my peers, but very free and expressive around my family. I knew i was meant to do something creative with my life. When i was in 6th grade at Jefferson Jr High School, i met my art teacher, named Mr Fritz, who informed me that you can make a career out of art. I always thought that you could teach art, but i didn't know there were so many career options for people with a creative eye and mind. This gave me new hope for my future after school. I continued to grow as a student of art through my teachers at Willowbrook High School, namely Mrs. Patterson and Mr. Bristol. Again, my talents were encouraged, and i gained self confidence in my skills, and was ready for college. I graduated in the top of my class from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor's Of FIne Art, with a Major in Design. I was ready for a big change. 5 days after graduation, i moved to Los Angeles, CA. I found a job as a junior designer at a large consulting firm called Towers Perrin. My business cards were ugly, and it was hard to work in an environment where design was not the primary goal and focus of the company, but i did learn a lot about how to work with people, and how to work quickly. I left that job after a few years, and started working for Variety, a trade magazine for the entertainment industry. I worked in-house for a few months before heading to Europe for 2 months to explore, learn, and grow. Upon my return, i continued to work at Variety, until my boss determined that i was meant for more than that place, and sent me packing. It was a nice way of saying, we need to lay someone off, and since you've been here the least amount of time, it has to be you. I spent my summer freelancing for various clients. I met a great contact, and started working on a project for Coca-Cola. This freelance gig turned into a full time opportunity, and I worked on the project for 2 years. I would spend my days thinking that if i were home, working from my own office, that i could double if not triple the amount of work i could do in one day, by saving time not traveling or wasting time doing work that i was not interested in doing. I bought a house with an amazing view, and couldn't imagine having to spend 10 hours away from such an inspiring location to sit in a cubicle. I quit my job, and opened my freelance business the next day. Work picked up at the end of the summer, and i have been growing my business ever since. Today, i work with many different clients in many different fields of work. Each day is never the same, and I love that. I have time and freedom to travel and get inspired in new ways. The next steps for me are to open an online store front where i can sell designs to consumers that will make their everyday life easier, more functional, and look good in the process. I'm hoping to launch my store this summer, and spend my time promoting the site, and thinking of new and interesting products. I like to think that everything can always be more functional and user friendly. I hope to provide the world with ideas, products and ways to make people's lives fun, new, creative and inspiring. As I’ve spent the past 11 years living as a professional in LA, working in graphic design and photography. My goal as an artist is to combine all my talents and skills into my fine art. I look for inspiration in nature, the little things you might overlook, music, and the good things in life. I look for patterns, lines in space, and making an ordinary object look abstract to confuse the viewer. I like to notice the little things, and make them grand and beautiful in all their details. If the viewer of my art feels positive and inspired, then i have accomplished my goal.
